2013 Favorites and A New Beggining!

Hello Everyone!

As I said in my past post, I am blogging on the road and I will be posting as soon as I get back in Alabama! The New Year is getting so close and I am so, so, so very excited! I have big news and big plans for this upcoming year and on top of that I will be graduating high school, going into college, and going to Disney! So let’s kick in the New Year by talking about our favorites in 2013!
2013 was honestly a pretty rough year for me personally, I had a lot of ups and downs and rights and wrongs but I think I have finally figured out how to keep myself happy. I started out 2013 in a relationship and it ended sometime in April for several reasons and I can’t say I regret the relationship but I am much happier without a/the relationship. I started Lace In Ruffles in late March and I have loved every single thing about blogging since. In August I started my first semester of senior year and I had a pretty rough time, but I made it! I can say now with 2014 coming right upon us that I am very happy spending time with my incredible family and wonderful friends, doing what makes me happy and living a stress-less life.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Ill begin with my random favorites for 2013

Lipton Diet Citrus Green Tea: Before this year I actually hated green tea but I got a kick start on it back in 2012 and developed a taste for it. Not only does it taste good but it also has a ton of benefits such as boosting yours metabolism and helping to prevent cancer (2 of the many benefits). I have to admit you really have to acquire a taste for it but once you do… it’s sure to please!

Coffee: I have loved coffee for as long as I can remember but especially this year. I have just flat out LOVED it! Burger Kings, Starbucks, Home-made, McDonalds… if it is coffee, I have loved it! This is also one of those drinks that have many benefits as well! When it comes to how I prepare it at home I basically make a pot of coffee (either Folgers or a home-made blend), and while im waiting for it to finish I take a coffee cup and fill it half way up with half milk and half hazelnut coffee creamer and then pour in the coffee, stir and drink up!

Almonds: I honestly do not even know why! I have never ever, ever, ever, EVER liked any type of nut other than peanuts. But this entire year I have really been loving almonds, whether they be roasted, dark chocolate covered, cinnamon covered, or any other way… they have been on my snack list.

Bow-Back High-Low tops/ Leggings/ Boots: Ummmmm, can you say ‘comfy-est outfit ever!’? Not only is it incredibly comfy, but it’s also the most adorable! I love dressing up and being a girl but this outfit really has been dressed up and basically worn in! I love it!

Side Braids: My hair has gotten so long since last year and with it being thick and curly, I have been running to this hairstyle begging ‘please!’. It is so simple and easy and potentially very cute and girly, I just love, love, love it!

Pearl and Silver Bow Stud Earrings: I got these back in October for my birthday and needless to say I have worn them non-stop since… I think that’s credit enough to say they are in my yearly favorites! I think they are just too cute and I get so many comments on them about how stunning they are (and how they look like Mickey Mouse)! I am not much of a dangly earring type of person because I actually sleep in my earrings a lot, so these are PERFECT!

New Balance Tennis Shoes: My feet have LOVED these shoes, my granny bought these for herself but she gave them to me because I’m actually pigeon toed and I walk on the sides of my feet so these basically have trained my feet to walk correctly. Money well spent!

Now on to the beauty favorites for 2013…

Maybelline Super Stay 24-Hour Foundation: This year has been the year of trying new foundations! I have tried to love Revlon ColorStay Foundation (Dry and Oily Skin formulations), Cover Girl Outlast 3-in-1 Foundation, and many others that people have recommended via YouTube, but nothing, and I mean nothing, has been comparable to this foundation! It is formulated perfectly for my skin (which is both dry and oily {on my nose}), it last pretty much all day, its full coverage, easy to blend, and just my overall perfect foundation! It was my favorite last year (2012) and the year before (2011) and it is definitely a Kayla Beauty Award (Yes, I did steal this from EmilyNoel83).

Maybelline Dream Matte Powder: This is a really wonderful powder, I love the matte finish, the long lasting formulation, the extra coverage, and the natural, non-cakey look it gives on top of any foundation, BB Cream, Tinted Moisturizer, CC Cream, or by itself! It is just the ideal powder I think for anyone.

E.L.F. Blusher & Bronzer Duo in St. Lucia: I purchased this back in March or April, and fell in love! The blush really compliments my skin-tone (as I think it would with most anyone’s). When I don’t know what blush to wear I always reach for this one. As for the bronzer, it is incredibly dark but with a light hand and the right brush… it is perfect for contouring. And its only $3 for both!

E.L.F. Total Face Brush: I have had this brush for years and years and I didn’t actually start using it until this year. I love using it with Maybelline Dream Matte Powder for days when I just want a light dusting and not too much coverage. It is just really nice and for only $1 you can not beat it.

Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Control Moisturizer: Another product I wasn’t into much before this year, I have had this for about 2 years now and I didn’t like it at first but I give it credit because I do believe this has cleared up my face quite a bit. And it give just the right amount of moisture to all areas of my face while treating my acne with salicylic acid.

Benefit They’re Real Mascara: OH MY GOODNESS! I love this mascara like no other! It is perfect for my lashes with the rubber bristles, it is jet black, and it gives length and volume! I have a review on this product for further information. I like to add my own little touch with this mascara because it does flake a good bit, but what I like to do is take Cover Girl Lashblast and apply one coat on to the lashes (this gives a little more length I think and it serves as a wonderful base) and then I take Maybelline Falsies Flared Mascara and apply one coat (this gives me just a little extra curl and volume) and then apply Benefit They’re Real Mascara. It coats the lashes beautifully and separates them really well.

Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue in Soothing Sorbet: This color is stunning! This formula is lovely! I know a lot of people have complained about these making their chapped lips look even worse, I haven't had that issue but then again I don't actually get chapped lips (I am not sure why... but it probably has to do with the fact that I put on tons of chapstick). I have two of these and this one is by far my favorite because of the shade. I find that the deeper red and rosey shades look very flattering on my skin tone and this color looks nice too.

Urban Decay Primer Potion: Another item that I never used in the past years but have fallen in love with this year (do we see a trend here?). When I first tried this I was wondering what all the hype was about, I wanted to love it but I just honestly couldn't find a reason to. This year I have used it every time I have worn eyeshadow! I think it really makes the eyeshadows pop a little more, stay a little longer, and crease a little less... I really do like it a lot and I do really recommend it. However, I am on the hunt for a cheaper alternative that works just as good... if not better.

Sally Hanson Extreme Wear Nail Polish in Coral Reef: I think I purchased this back in June and I wore it through the time I purchased it through August and then started wearing it again in October! I think it is the perfect kind of 'pink' shade (again for my skin tone, but I think it would be beautiful on anyone's) and I think it is especially stunning in the summer months. The formula of this nail polish is also really nice and smooth as well.

Wet ‘n’ Wild Nail Polish in Party of Five Glitters: Despite that this takes literally forever to dry, this still made it on my yearly favorites! I think I wore this for about six months straight on my accent nail. It is so very pretty and fun, even flirty. I would definitely repurchase this, I really did enjoy it and i'm sad to say that it has run out... but I got a dupe for Christmas that I am also impressed with!

Suave Professionals Almond & Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner: I have used this shampoo and conditioner for going on 4 years now. For me, I have to use a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner because I have very curly and dry hair, not to mention it tangles like no other. This not only gives my hair the moisture it needs but it really helps untangle my hair as well. I have tried so many other shampoos and conditioners but nothing has compared to these at all. Not L'Oreal, Pantene, Aussie, Clear, Herbal Essence, nothing!

L’Oreal Go Clean 360 Cleanser: This has been a real game changer for my acne this year! It gets a lot of the credit for clearing up my acne. I have the type of skin where it gets used to a product and the product doesn't work anymore, but this product has really kept my face clean and the scrubber really helps as well.
